Tullamore Dew Blended Irish Whiskey 70cl

Every Irish whiskey offers something unique and interesting, but no other offers the rare combination of blending three whiskeys that have each been triple distilled, and left to mature, in three different barrel types.

Tullamore D.E.W brings together a rich heritage of experience and expertise that has evolved since 1829 when the original Tullamore distillery was founded. Our single malt and pot still whiskey is first triple distilled in three types of copper pot still at the Tullamore distillery for purity and smoothness.

Next Tullamore DEW whiskey matures in three types of cask.

1) Traditional refill barrels have been used to mature local whiskeys once or twice before. These casks are designed to impart less strong oak flavours, but still subtract any less desirable flavour notes.

2) Ex-bourbon barrels made from American oak—Quercus Alba—and have previously held some of America’s finest. These barrels impart a golden colour, and a sweet vanilla and butterscotch taste.

3) Ex-sherry butts are specially imported from Jerez in Spain, having previously stored Oloroso sherry. The wood imparts a rich mahogany colour imparting dried fruit character along with raisin, wood spice and chocolate notes.

Finally, our three whiskeys are blended together before bottling. A blend offers you all of the richness, complexity and flavour combinations that a ‘single’ style cannot offer.

Grain gives us sweet. Malt gives us fruit. Pot still gives us spice. We go to all of this effort to give Tullamore D.E.W. Original such a complex flavour with an incredibly smooth finish.
